VBOX 2SX 5 10 & 20 Hz
Available with an update rate of 20, 10 or 5 times a second, the VBOX IISX features a built in display, SD card logging, high speed brake trigger input, CAN interface and two sets of analogue and digital outputs. Connection to a PC is made via a USB or serial interface.
One of the best features of the 20Hz VBOX IISX is the position accuracy afforded by this device. It has four modes of operation which affect position; Stand Alone, where you get around 2.5m, SBAS (free satellite based service picked up from existing GPS antenna) giving <1m, Base Station DGPS 40cm and Base Station DGPS 20cm.
The sub metre SBAS mode is potentially the most interesting, as this can be received almost anywhere round the world, for free, without any additional equipment necessary. It also comes as standard with every unit. Sub metre precision is really good for many applications, especially as you are not tied to a Base Station.

After evaluating almost every high precision GPS system out there, the VBOX IISX with SBAS enabled is arguably the best in class by some way. Here is an example of the position drift over 12 hours compared with a competitive survey grade receiver, also receiving SBAS corrections:
What can I use the VBOX IISX for?
Brake testing – Having a maximum update rate of 20Hz is still plenty fast enough for brake testing, you don’t quite get the phenomenal ±1.8cm resolution of the VBOX 3i, but for many purposes the ±10cm achieved is more than adequate. The VBOX IISX has a high speed brake trigger input, which scans for a braking event 100,000 times a second.
Performance testing – This unit is perfect for all variations of performance testing, the accuracy and quick response of the 20Hz unit gives very repeatable and accurate results, when tested back to back with the VBOX 3i, they are within a few hundredths of a second every time.
Durability testing – The lower sample rates of 5Hz and 10Hz make this unit suitable for long term testing where high speed logging is not required.
Driving line analysis – The great positional accuracy and 20Hz update rate are perfect for professional level driving line analysis at an affordable cost.
What outputs does it have?
The VBOX IISX has analogue and digital outputs, and CAN, serial, and USB connectivity. There is also an optional Bluetooth module available for this unit.
What inputs does it have?
Built into the unit are 32 CAN channels which can be connected to the target Vehicle’s CAN bus to measure most common parameters. The VBOX IISX can also be connected to the wide range of VBOX Input modules to measure almost any kind of analogue or digital signal, up to 20 times a second.
Can I monitor results in real-time?
Yes, the analysis software can connect via serial, USB or via the optional Bluetooth module and run results in real-time. You can also connect to a number of different VBOX displays to monitor speed, braking results, lap-times etc
